New Year, New Look

After 12 months, I am retiring the first iteration of this site. I simply outgrew the single page design.

Following the initial launch of v1, I was pleasantly surprised by the response. The site was featured on numerous blogs and galleries, as well as a book; The Smashing Idea Book: From Inspiration to Application, by Smashing Magazine. Traffic climbed too; within 30 days there were 13,000 page views and 9,000 unique visitors.

Version 1 and Smashing Magazine

While the new site retains some of the previous branding, by and large it’s a new look. There’s an emphasis on typography, scale and rhythm; though I chose not to use a typography grid for v2.0. The previous site employed the fonts Avenir, Museo Slab and Museo Sans. In contrast, the new site makes use of Coffee Service and Proxima Nova.

Thanks to everyone who featured my site, sent me kind words or just stopped by. I hope you enjoyed it, and I hope that v2 is as good or better than its predecessor.

I am archiving the previous version here for anyone who’s interested.
